There's an old saying in the writing world "write the story you love because you'll read it a 100 times" and I'm here to tell you the saying is totally true.
I started writing The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Reapers in April 2020. Since then, I have lost track of how many times I've read it. Okay...maybe it hasn't really been a 100 times, but the number is way on up there.
It's been through different drafts. A full first draft. A rewrite and a second draft. Then some tweaking after a few critiques by some writing pals, and some more tweaking after some Beta Readers got a hold of it.
There was also another full read before I started querying agents. And another after I got the agent, and she suggested some changes. That one led to my getting a publisher who wanted...yes, you guessed it...another round of edits and another full read.
This week...well, round two of the edits rolled in along with an ominous sounding note to "make sure you do a full read after you complete these edits because this is the last one..."

So...the finish line is almost in sight. But...not quite...because at some point I'll hold a proof copy in my hands and I'll have one more read to do before we pass the land of no return. (I'm mixing my metaphors and stuff again, but you know what I mean!)
